A blood test designed to improve early detection rates of ovarian cancer is one of the projects to be funded under a new round of the Global Connections Fund from the Coalition Government.

Thirty-eight innovative technology-business projects have been awarded funding in the third round of Priming Grants announced today by Senator Michaelia Cash, Minister for Jobs and Innovation.
Priming Grants are a program of the Global Connections Fund which is managed by the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) as part of the Australian Government’s Global Innovation Strategy funded under the Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA).
With financial support from the Australian Government, researchers in Adelaide will head to the largest almond producing country in the world—the US— to trial their new variety of almonds in the hope of creating massive sales in its nurseries.
The University of Adelaide’s almond breeding program is just one of 38research and small-to-medium enterprise (SME) projects being boosted with $7000 Priming Grants, in the latest round of grants offered under the Global Connections Fund (GCF).
Eighteen Australian researchers and 11 small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) will share in $1.4 million in government grants to meet and collaborate with global partners to progress their ideas.
Today I announced the grants, under the Global Connections Fund, which will provide seed funding to help viable Australian projects to grow in scope and scale, and to test commercialisation and proof-of-concept activities.

Applications have opened for Global Connections Fund (GCF) Priming Grants to help Australian researchers and business to expand their work overseas.
The grants of up to $7000 empower organisations to collaborate in the global arena, link with international counterparts and expertise, and explore collaborative projects in international markets.

The Priming Grant call PG181, is now open for Expressions of Interest (from 0900hr on the 5th of February). This phase will close on the 19th of February 2018 at 17.00hr, Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
Priming Grants can be prepared and lodged anytime after the 5th February but only if you have received an EOI notice of approval to proceed and have been issued an EOI number.
Applications Closing date: All final Priming Grant applications are time stamped and must be received by 17.00 hrs Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) on the 8th March 2018.
